We set as few as we can. Analytics and marketing both start switched off, and nothing measures you until you choose it.
The two choices, and the default
When you first arrive you are asked about two separate things: analytics, and marketing. Both begin switched off. If you ignore the banner, nothing is set beyond what the site needs to work.
We record which way you answered and which version of our notice you were shown, so that we can demonstrate what you actually agreed to.
What we set
The full list. There is nothing else.
- cn_consent
- Remembers your two answers and the version you were shown. Kept 180 days. Always set once you answer.
- cn_aid
- A random first-party identifier so a visit can be counted once rather than five times. Kept 365 days.
- Sign-in session
- Keeps you signed in to the app. Set only after you sign in, and needed for the app to work at all.
- _fbp and _fbc
- Set by Meta to measure advertising. Set only if you chose marketing.
Changing your mind
You can change either answer at any time from the banner, and withdrawing is as easy as agreeing was. You can also clear cookies in your browser, which removes all of them — including the record of your choice, so you will be asked again.
Who else sets one
Only Meta, and only for advertising measurement, and only if you chose marketing. Our analytics counts events on our own server rather than in your browser, so it sets nothing beyond the identifier above.
